The new Kawasaki Ninja 500 weighs 171 kg, making it slightly heavier than its previously launched competition bikes like the Yamaha R3 and the KTM RC 390. However, it is slightly lighter than the Aprilia RS 457. Despite the weight, the Ninja 500 is loaded with safety features. It has dual-channel ABS, making it an attractive option for safety-conscious riders.
It has a 450cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 45bhp power and 42.6 Nm torque. It has a six-speed gearbox. However, the Ninja 500 lacks some modern features like quickshifter, cornering ABS, traction control or launch control.

KTM RC390: This is a powerful sports bike which is famous for its speed and performance.
The KTM RC390 and Aprilia RS457 have been developed in India, due to which their prices may be lower. The Yamaha R3 and Ninja 500 are sold as CBU (Completely Built Unit) in India, which leads to their slightly higher prices.
The Ninja 500 shares the same parts as the outgoing Ninja 400 and its design closely resembles modern Kawasaki sports bikes like the ZX-6R and the Ninja 7 Hybrid. The variant launched in India is the standard variant, which misses out on some premium features like all-black color and keyless ignition.
